ROCK show

I actually spent some of my hard-earned cash to watch High School Musical 3: Senior Year last Sunday. It was okay, I suppose. The plot was rather teen-flick generic, but it had a lot of energy and atmosphere. The songs were better than HSM2. The ticket+snacks meant I was broke for the rest of the week. : D I bought a large fruit tart for me and YY to eat during lunch on Friday, though. Maybe every Friday I will buy a cake haha.

I’ve eaten a lot today. I had a roast dinner for lunch. Then my sister called me to go to eat Japanese food, so I had that. I had this really nice okayu. Okayu is basically this sort of rice porridge, called congee. We have in China as well, but okayu is a lot thicker than the Chinese variant. I can never get fed up of Japanese food. My parents went to a Buddhist festival earlier, so they brought me back noodles, which I’m devouring now. I’m going to wake up obese.

Eyes On Me

I attended a Korean language lecture at the Korean Cultural Centre today. It was about Korean honorifics and their usage in Korea. It was really interesting to see how the Korean society structure is so complex, and also how complicated it all is. The lecturer even said many  Koreans don’t know how, or get wrong, honorifics which makes me feel a lot better, if and when I learn the language. It’s amusing how Koreans try so hard not to call each other by their names, but will strive to call them using a honorific instead. In English, we only really have one word for “you” which is…”you”. XD We did have both thou and you, thou being used for someone you’re close to, but that has fallen out of context. In Korean, there are many ways on saying “you”, depending on your age, gender or your position in society. Likewise in Vietamese, there are 7 ways to say “you”. In Chinese, we have 2 ways. Well, 3, if you count 爾, which I have never been seen used, apart from in words such as 威爾斯 and 北愛爾蘭, which actually are the names for Wales and Northern Ireland in Chinese. Even then, I don’t really think you can class them as true honorifics.

I started filling in my UCAS application and writing my personal statement. I never knew that it would so hard to write. So many things to consider and add, yet I only have a small space to write. I’m definitely going to put in that I attended the Korean lecture though. I think attending a lecture at 6:30pm on a Tuesday evening is a good way to convey that I really want to study Korean.

Mia

I saw Mamma Mia! today. It was okay. The first half really irritated me, as the women in it were screaming for no real reason. Have you ever been to like, a food market or a fishmonger? There are usually people screaming “£1 FOR A BUNCH OF BANANAS.” The screaming was like that. I liked the second half though, as it was mainly just singing. Also, blasting classical music out of a car is so lolz. People stare at you when you walk past.

I got accepted into the Mandarin course! Yay. : D

No. 1

Yesterday was awesome. I and some of my friends organised a dinner party, where each person prepared one of the courses. I made the main course, which was paella. I was worried that it would go horribly wrong, as I made a little tester on Wednesday and it was pretty horrible. This time I added a few herbs and a few more ingredients, so I could impart a little more flavour into the dish, and just so it was filling. It turned out really great. There was hardly any left, as the family members who weren’t taking part in the dinner had some too. The starters was soup and croutons, which was really nice. We made the croutons ourselves with a little oregano and cheese. Danielle made stuffed peppers which was nice too.

College is nearly over. Yay!
