I had to go into college today. Apparently, the German teacher doesn’t make any exceptions, so I can pretty much wave learning that goodbye. I’ll probably take Psychology and Classical Civilisations instead. After a year, I can drop one subject, so it’ll be one of them. Probably Psychology. I liked the look of the subject, but all the Science and Maths part doesn’t really appeal to me much. But then, none of the other subjects really appeal to me. I have to go in again on Monday so I can enrol and finalise the subjects I’m going to be taking.

They were okay. I didn’t get the B in German I needed, so I can’t do it (unless I like, grovel). That means I’ll also can’t do Spanish, but that’s okay, because I can replace it with Classical Civilisations or Psychology. I was surprised with my C in Maths. I was like “huh?”. It was a mixture of both elation and confusion. I thought I failed it. I got an E in Graphics, but that was predictable. I actually thought I would get either an F or a U.
I love Korean food. We had bulgogi, and my family loved it so much that we’re having it for dinner today. Good thing we arrived at the restaurant early as by the time we left, the restaurant were turning people away because they were too busy. I took pictures!
We went to various Korean supermarkets and bought goodies. We got loads of biscuits and drink, including this grape juice with real grapes in it. We bought a few trays of gimbap, which is like Korean sushi, and kimchi, which is fermented vegetables in usually a chilli sauce. Strange thing was that when we went to the first supermarket, the song playing over the system was a Korean language cover of the Morning Musume song "恋愛レボリューション21" (Renai Revolution 21). When we went to the second store, the same song was playing. Still, it was nice to listen to.
Has anyone tried ramune? It’s this Japanese soft drink, that’s like, the summer drink of Japan. It’s served in a cod neck bottle, with this marble that one must push down to be able to drink the content inside. Most of the flavours are light and refreshing, not the really flavoury ones you get here.
Oh, I finally drank my Calpis. It was quite nice. It has this milky taste, yet slightly citric acid-y. It reminded me of Yakult…just carbonated and not as good for you.
Today was my mum’s birthday, so what better way to celebrate than buying me a new mattress! It’s really comfortable and have these really pretty diamond lumps coming out of it. Who knew buying mattresses could be so expensive though? After that, we went to have Japanese food. I had a bento box which had like, tempura and sushi in it. I also had this ice drink in the biggest cup ever. When it arrived, all the contents were basically spilling from the rim of the cup. It had like, all these fruits in it, so it was really refreshing. I also had some miso soup, which was nice (and not as salty as I usually have it, which was a nice change). I was going to take pictures of what I ate but I completely forgot about it until they had cleared the table.
We also went to the Asian supermarket. My friend raves about this drink called “Calpis”, so I bought the soda version. I haven’t tried it yet. I also bought some miso (from Hokkaidō!) and some Mountain Dew (from Singapore!) because I’ve never tried it before.
After that, we went into Chinatown and bought some food stuff from the bakery. There was this comic book store that used to be there that me and one of my friends used to frequent, but I couldn’t find it anywhere. Well, unless we were both thinking of the same store.
My mum told me about this café she always passed by and liked the look of, so we decided to go. It reminded me of Hong Kong. I had a mango and sago pudding. It was really good. It had shaved ice in the middle, so it cooled me down a lot (it was fairly hot today). After that, I felt positively stuffed. I saw green tea mousse in the display, but I really couldn’t eat anything more without wanting to vomit.
Tomorrow, we’re going to have Korean food as a family. It’s my first time but like, my parents and sister 23857 time. Should be fun.
